1971. “Papa John Creach.” I played bass on the track: “The Janitor Drives a Cadillac”. A Papa John Creach album for Grunt Records. I was first introduced to Papa John by drummer Joey Covington who I met through John Cipollina. I had not met Paul Kantner or Grace Slick yet…but was very good friends with David Freiberg.

Papa John played one of the most beautiful, soulful renditions of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” on his violin that I have ever heard.
At the time, I had no idea we’d wind up playing in a band together. Wonderful person.
