1999. “Augusta Boulevard Blues”

Rich Kirch

  • Release 1999

A solo record by my close friend Rich, featuring John Lee Hooker, Big Walter Horton, Sam Lay, Charlie Musselwhite, Freddy Roulette, and many more.
I played piano and bass on some tracks.
Rich was John Lee’s “Coast to Coast Blues Band” leader for thirteen years and developed a very close friendship with John.
I played keyboards with John Lee at several live shows including a Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame “John Lee Hooker & Friends” concert at Stanford, California, and a show in Oroville, California about a year before John died. There are links to that show on Youtube.
John Lee and Rich later both played on my solo album “The Long Haul” performing a song I wrote with John Lee called “Elizabeth”.
Drummer Bryant Mills and bassist Ron Perry from John’s band also played on the track.
Rich played lead guitar in my band “Dawn Patrol”. — with Big Walter Horton, John Lee Hooker, Charlie Musselwhite and Sam Lay.

Recorded at Steve Suda’s Bayview Studios in Richmond, California.
